An empty classroom. Dim lights. A complete and utter lack of furniture, save for the chairs you're both sitting in and a school desk between the two of you. A blank faced boy sits across from you, silent as you gaze into each other's eyes.
You know the world has ceased to exist outside of this classroom, and yet...
This is the happiest you've ever been.
After a moment of silence, you pick a topic. A familiar pink box materializes on the desk in front of you, putting your words to text as the syllables leave your mouth. Of course, you can only see the backside of this box from your current position.
While you talk, the boy fails to say anything in response. In any other situation, you would be somewhat offended. But just the fact that he's still here, and you haven't been plunged back into that horrible nightmare, means you're being listened to.
Maybe some people would call that low standards, but for you? That's enough.
