[Well. The solar is where the books are at, so it's only inevitable that Monika will find her way back here at least once per day. She's already making a beeline to retrieve one book she started reading yesterday, when she notices she has company.]
Oh. Hey, you're Kim... right? I mean, Kim Dojka. Not the other Kim.
[ The white-necked raven daemon perks up at the sound of someone else within the solar, crooning curiously with a single hop onto the middle of the table with feathers puffing up once she spots who it is.
Her companion, on the other hand, seems to be shifting through some pages. Though, he does peer up at her with a small smile. ] That's right, and you're Monika. You can just call me Dokja so it's easier.
Yep, that's me. [Smiling. Her daemon, currently in the form of a black swan, lifts his head to honk once — and then he resumes preening.] Dokja, then... It's really alright?
It's fine. Might be a little confusing if you refer to me as "Kim", no? [ Looks at the other two Kim's. ..Yeah. ]
If you don't mind joining me, I wouldn't mind the company. I could use a break. [ The raven croaks a very low "idiot" while staring directly at Dokja, clearly speaking at him. Dokja gives her a look. Be nice to your partner?? But Jin looks a bit tired so maybe that's why. ]
[ Dokja looks amused by that, yes he can imagine. And despite the raven's remark, he doesn't seem too bothered by his daemon. ]
She does. [ The daemon croaks a laugh. ] I'm a reader so I tend to look to books for any useful information. A shame I can't really read these, so I haven't had any luck yet. [ The mysterious ??? language. ]
You, too? [Pursing her lips... The mysterious ??? language, indeed.] It's weird that we can barely find any non-fiction books. It was the same in the last city, right?
[ Dokja has decided to take a break, Jin having fun with herself as she coils around a hand in her black hognose snake form before she stops and flicks her tongue in their new company's way. Dokja perks with a smile. ]
Hello again, Monika. ..Sorry if this is sudden but, do you like stories? If so, can I tell you one?
Is that so? I hope this is a story that's worth remembering then.
[ He holds his hand out as the daemon slithers up his arm before she's shifting to that of a white-necked raven, croaking a soft tune now from where she perches on his shoulder. ]
It's about a boy who had lived a rough life. He had nothing growing up, no faith in himself, no hopes for the future, but one day he came across a story. A story that actually saved him, and continued to for the next ten years. He cheered on, cried for, hated, and loved the protagonist. Stuck by his side in reading his story right until the very end. He read and read as if that was his only escape from a cruel miserable world.
It's kind of a depressing story in hindsight. [ To that he gives an apologetic smile. ] But, one day, before his favorite story's epilogue could come in, he was given a gift. The story, to be exact. And in the next moment... that story because his reality. Everything he had read from the very beginning, started to happen in the real world around him. A reader was soon part of his favorite story, where he got to meet his favorite characters and witness their growth alongside them. To go on an adventure to try and reach his perfect ending.
[ He pauses, seeming to think about it before he chuckles. ] Afraid that next part of the story is still in the works so I can't spoil the rest until it's done.
Do you think so? [ That he isn't too sure of. Were there people capable of relating to it? However, that question of inspiration...
He looks out, seeming to consider his words. A smile settles on his lips as his head tilts with further thought. ] Myself. It's a story I'm currently living in after all.
[ tbh monika is valid, and honestly as much as orvs suffering it's meant to be. ]
If you said that to that guy's face, he'd probably want to stab me. [ sighs. ] Back home, all sorts of stories are created and made depending on what you do. They're a part of you that's able to speak and sing of their tales.
[ thursday and friday are a blur to me, what is happening. kdj coming back from csm outing to two other cyoa returns. help ]
As well as anyone else is. [ Which is to say, he thinks some people certainly have it worse than him. Jin is perched on the table near him, the white-necked raven croaking audibly. ] I'm trying to process everything that's happened today on top of yesterday.
[... She nods, a somber look on her face. Pygmalion sticks close to her legs, as if trying to hide himself from the world. This is not a happy daemon.]
I get it. A lot has happened, tomorrow isn't going to be any better, and Rika...
[She trails off and shakes her head, sighing.]
Well, I realize this isn't the best time. But did you find anything yesterday?
[ If Dokja seems bothered by the change of subject, he certainly doesn't seem so. Maybe he welcomes it? He nods as he responds while bringing a hand into his jacket. ]
Our group's journey has nothing to do with this realm since it had connections to Power, but we did find a letter by the end of it. Anything concerning the dispute we have with this world you'll probably learn more from today's group.
[ But he will offer for her to see the letter he has. She's free to copy it if she has paper and a pen on her. And if she doesn't have any, well, the gift shop is right there it probably has something. ]
To disobey the divine Authority is to commit sin. To commit more sins to weigh upon one's soul is to collect Dust, to lose more of their innocence, and that is what causes the daemon to settle. Only children remain free of this burden, until they reach the age that it can no longer be avoided. It is for their sake that we must commit this research, to protect our children and those of all worlds from the sins of their forefathers.
While it is the will of the Authority to free the worlds of this sin and the Dust that follows it, a simple undertaking it is not. For it is not something we can do over time; that will only allow margin for error for Dust to slip through. No, to truly claim a victory, to erase the concept of sin itself, it must be done all at once, with no allowance for mistakes.
[She does, in fact, have paper and a pen with her! She pulls one of her notebooks out of her satchel along with a red pen, jotting everything down as quickly as her injured hand allows it.]
... For all their talk about this being for the sake of the children, I can't help but to wonder if they sought to eliminate the existence of daemons.
[ Dokja has just entered the shopping district near the Star Circle when he catches sight of Monika, a polite smile showing as he raises a hand in greeting. Jin peeks from the black scarf around his neck, the black hognose snake flicking her tongue out in greeting. ]
Ah, hello Monika. Doing some shopping today as well?
[She seems to be in a good mood today, dressed in her cutest dress with Pygmalion at her side. The only uncute part of her outfit is the, uh, I L*VE NERAK eyepatch she's still wearing.]
It's a little embarrassing to be seen walking around with this. [She taps the eyepatch.] So I'm trying to find one that matches my outfit and won't use my face as an ad space.
[ Lips twitch, seeming amused at the comment of 'ad space.' She isn't wrong. ]
Well, if you don't mind company, I can join you. I'm not sure what I'm looking for exactly so maybe I can help you find something. [ When you wanna shop but? Not sure for what. So time to window shop. ]
wednesday, week one.

[Congrats, Dokja. You have now officially lost your Kim card.
Monika gives Jin an amused look, watching this exchange go down?]
Well, she looks like she has a lot to say. [Not like she can understand any of it.] What were you both up to?

[ Arms come to a cross. ] One of the Watchers considered maybe finding a way to help read these books despite the language but they were unsure.

Hello again, Monika. ..Sorry if this is sudden but, do you like stories? If so, can I tell you one?

[So, yes, she likes stories. Pygmalion is sticking close to Monika, but he wags his tail upon noticing they have company. Hewwo.]
What did you have in mind?

... It's a lovely story. I think a lot of readers would relate to the protagonist's plight, you know? [Hmm...] What was your inspiration, Dokja?

He looks out, seeming to consider his words. A smile settles on his lips as his head tilts with further thought. ] Myself. It's a story I'm currently living in after all.

[After all, escapism is not all that uncommon. However... She raises her eyebrows, briefly surprised, before she laughs.]
... Ahaha, is it? I see. Hey, Dokja... You come from the same world as Joonghyuk, right?
no subject
That's right. It's a bit complicated, but we technically are from the same world yes.
no subject
I see. He shared a little about his situation with me, so I was curious if that was the case.

We're Life and Death companions so our fates are closely intertwined. [ "shut up, kim dokja." ]
no subject
From the way you say it, it sounds like more than just a poetic title or an ideal about destiny.
no subject
Well, it's a Fable we share together, but it holds meaning to the name. [ Kinda literally. ] We've been through a lot.

[the orvs: suffering

no subject
... Yes, it does sound magical. Though also a little suffocating.
friday, week five.
Monika is looking at the scrolls in the hotel lobby when she notices him.]
... How do you feel, Dokja?
[Politely. Though, honestly, the vibes are rancid everywhere.]

[ For now, maybe they can ask some staff employees nearby? Someone gestures them eagerly to a shelf and........ well. What they see is, um. ]
...Hmm.

Actually, I think I'm okay being an ad space.
[No.]
